| Home Stay This picture features the two biggest drawbacks of the trip: the shower and the toilet. Now the toilet problem was nation-wide (and beyond), but you can't throw dirty poopy paper down in the john. You need to throw it in the trash bin instead. I ran into the same thing in Brazil and hated it there, too. The shower, however, was another matter. There was very, very little hot water--so little that I usually turned the water off between getting wet, lathering, and rinsing. That got old but it wasn't the worst thing in the world, and there was always a bit of guilt that after a couple weeks we'd get to go home where we didn't even have to think about having hot water. Americans are (lucky/spoiled): take your pick. |
