| La Democracia Here's Amy and her instructor Erica, who was studying law and was a very good and serious teacher. None of the instructors speak English beyond a few words; I think this is a good thing, since it forces you to use whatever Spanish you have--basic, intermediate, or advanced--to communicate. In school, Guatemalan students can learn English but it's mostly reading and vocabulary. My instructor, for instance, knew a ton of English words and could pronounce them pretty well, but could not speak in full, complete sentences. Or at least he didn't to me. |
