Sites (San Andrés Xecul)

Here's a look inside the church and, alas, the most interesting features don't appear. (No, I'm not talking about the use of the subjunctive in the sign, which says "Be prepared because you do not know the hour the son of God will come.") What didn't come out in this photo was the use of neon in the church. That's right, neon.

Just below the green sign you can see a glowing greenish light. That was a neon sign that read "El Pescador del Hombres" or "The Fisherman of Men." Below that, behind the alter, is a statue of Jesus behind a pane of glass that's lined by not one, not two, but three stripes of neon in red, blue, and green. All that was missing was a disco ball.
