Xela
One of our instructors
relates the story of forbidden love at the turn of the 20th century. The
star-crossed lovers have a story similar to Romeo and Juliet, as two families
forbade the union of the upper-class man to a younger, lower-class woman.
The story doesn't have a happy ending as the man drank away his inheritance
and the woman committed suicide. Now, the people of Xela come and write
their wishes on the woman's grave as they believe she will help them get
their heart's desires. Or at least that's the gist of it--she was telling
the story in Spanish for Pete's Sake!
