Porto

Next stop, Porto. We boarded a train and journeyed north to Portugal's second-largest city in Porto.

Porto has the reputation for being a hardworking city and we had no doubt; it seemed like the entire city was torn up and there were dozens of work crews laboring to put things back together again.

If we had to choose a single word to describe Porto, it would be "exhausted." The city doesn't have any must-see sights and there was no central plaza where people kicked back and relaxed--or perhaps it was under construction. What Porto does have is wineries that make, oddly enough, port wine. We crossed the bridge, went on two tours, ate in an alley near the water, and moved on the next day.
