I have always told people that of the European countries I have driven in (Spain, Portugal, Scotland, France, and Italy) that it was the easiest by far in Spain due to the spacious roads and generally courteous drivers. Portugal was by far the worst, and the worst in the north where drivers zip around blind corners on rain-slicked curvy highways. Driving in northern Spain? Pretty much like driving in northern Portugal. If you do this, get the complete car insurance. And consider life insurance too.
