Great Sand Dunes National Monument- 4/13

"Dune It To Me One More Time"
Not one, not two, but three hikes in sand dunes! And this one was the granddaddy of them all, making the Oregon dunes and Death Valley look like kid stuff. Located just outside Alamosa in southcentral Colorado, you'd be hard pressed to find a good reason to visit as it's about 3.5 hours from either Santa Fe or Colorado Springs. Amy was a great sport about this as she had little interest in hiking the dunes and patiently read in the car for almost two hours while her 29-year-old man-child played in an enormous sandbox with nary a complaint. For me, this was the highlight of the entire trip. Read the individual captions below for the full scoop.
