Steep TraverseThere are no established trails in the park so everyone must blaze their own. I followed the ridges as much as possible on the way up but every so often you had to bite the bullet and climb. On steep inclines the sand would slide down around mid-shin, forcing you to first extract your feet before moving forward. Needless to say it was slow going, but this gave me time to appreciate the cool patterns in the sand and the strange shadows the dunes cast. |
