Great Sand Dunes

Now this is a view you don't get from the parking lot: sand dunes stretching as far as the eye can see. Overnight backpacking would be utterly grueling but I have to admit, I really had an urge to go get lost down amidst the waves of sand. While it may look like the Sahara, actually getting lost would be impossible as the dunes are thinly wedged between a prairie to the south and mountains to the north.
