Part 1 - Washington and Oregon

We said a fond farewell to Seattle by watching the US men's national team beat Venezuela 2-0 at Seahawk Stadium. On April 1 we said goodbye to Washington State as we headed to Astoria in NW Oregon then turned south for the coast. We stopped along several little beach towns along the way including Lincoln City, Newport, Coos Bay, and Bandon. It rained most of the drive but that didn't keep us from taking a short hike in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation area.

With the steady rainfall we decided against the journey east to Crater Lake National Park. It was a tough choice because it's in the middle of nowhere and we were only a few hours away, but the park is still under snow and the visibility couldn't have been good with all of the rain. Another day, perhaps.

We stayed our last night in Brookings, OR, literally the last town in Oregon. We woke up early the next morning and continued south into California and Redwood National Forest.
