Part 3 - Grand Canyon to Denver

After a much needed rest in Las Vegas we hit the road again, this time driving over the Hoover Dam and then further southeast to skirt the top of Arizona on the way to the Grand Canyon. We timed things well, arriving at the canyon's rim just before sunset. We snapped some photos, walked a bit, then hit the sack after the long day's drive. I woke up at 2:00 am, though, to the sound of coyotes howling - a very unique experience to say the least. The next morning we completed the south rim drive and headed straight east for another (relatively grueling) day of driving, broken up by the unexpected side trip to the Petrified Forest National Park. We ended up staying the night in Albuquerque.

We spent the next morning briefly in Albuquerque, stopped in for a quick tour of downtown Santa Fe, dropped into Chimayo for lunch, and then headed north to Colorado.
